The Liberal Arts aim at teaching us to think freely and critically over broad areas of knowledge. How have those in the Liberal Arts come to contribute to our communities? And what does the undervaluing of the liberal arts mean for our future? Victor Ferrall (president emeritus of Beloit College and author of Liberal Arts at the Brink) will explore these questions and share his insights. The 2013–14 Tanner Talks, a series of cross-disciplinary events focusing on the theme "Knowledge and Community," are a presentation of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
